11,000 (eleven thousand) less people (3/4ths of them children under five) died of hunger and starvation today than ten years ago!
From reliable sources, it is now estimated that the number of adults and children who died today of hunger and starvation has decreased significantly! Every person reading this who has contributed in any way is responsible. Every thing we do does matter! Everything counts.
While the first person I know, who said we could end this senseless tragedy was Buckminster Fuller, each person along the way can and should take some responsibility. Harry Chapin, John Denver and Werner Erhard, all considered foolish and unrealistic in 1977, said we could end this tragedy in twenty years. In 1977, it was estimated that 41,000 (forty-one thousand) died.
Is it over?
No!
24,000 (twenty-four thousand) died today.
We were wrong and we are making progress.
May we each rededicate ourselves to bringing an end to persistent hunger, starvation and the needless deaths they cause!
