Absolutely

Over the past few decades there has been a good deal of conversation about
making a difference in the world.

The most challenging realization is that there is no such thing as not
making a difference.

The only question is whether what we are doing in this second or plan
to do in the next is or will be a positive or negative contribution?

There are no exceptions.

Loving Kindness or Other

There are only two conditions: LOVING KINDNESS and OTHER. To work for peace, you must have a peaceful heart. To preserve peace, our hearts must be at peace with the world, with our brothers and our sisters. Trying to overcome damage with damage is not the way to make peace ...

Want

Wanting something is quite different than believing our happiness has anything to do with that person, place or thing. Happiness exists only as a place to come from, not to get to. The moment I believe I cannot live without it, have I not just become dependent? ...

Capacity

The Dalai Lama has said that “compassion occurs only between equals.” The capacity for everything resides within each of us. The moment I have the thought that I am "better than, smarter than or more important than, my ability to be of actual use is gone." Will I look today ...

Goodness

See and observe those who approach each person with love, kindness and compassion. Perhaps our greatest service is simply to find ways to strengthen and live closer to our goodness. This is far from easy. It requires an everyday attention, an awareness of all that diminishes us, distracts us, and ...

Within You, AND the Person Next to You!

The power to repair the world is already in you. When someone blesses you, it reminds you a little – untying the knots of belief and fear and self-doubt that have separated you from your own goodness. Freeing you to bless and receive blessings from everything around you. From the ...

Personally

Nelson Mandela, “As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest.” To whom do you think Nelson Mandela was speaking? ...

Confusion; Really?

"These things will destroy the human race: politics without principle, progress without compassion, wealth without work, learning without silence, religion without fearlessness and worship without awareness.” Anthony de Mello Any Questions? ...

Conundrum

"A World That Works for Everyone" creates a conundrum for most people. If we believe it can be created, we might be considered wide-eyed and impractical. Really. If we believe it is impossible, doesn't that mean we are acknowledging that we are incapable of taking care of our family and ...

Allow

Allow us to be present to one and other. Encourage us to be present enough to know when silent support is all that is wanted and needed. Allow us to know when what we want is irrelevant. Allow us to know that the gift of love is always the foundation ...

Simplicity

Who have we loved today? To whom have we contributed our time, energy and/or money? Is it clear to us that every thing we do counts? The only question is will it be a contribution or a detriment? ...

Changing the World

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
-Margaret Mead

What might we do this second that would contribute to a
“World That Works for Everyone?”

If you go out to eat, will you contribute the same amount to an organization that addresses issues of persistent hunger and starvation from a point of view of sustainability?

What feelings arise when you think about doing that?

Contribution

The capacity for all things resides within all people.

That means that what I do in this moment might be a source of great good or great damage.

Acknowledging that I control no one other than myself, which contribution do I wish to make now?
