Everyday “Miracles”

Miracles in Small Things

When the water comes through the shower head, I feel blessed by the miracle of it. The warmth, the fact that the well and the pump are working please me. I think of the thousands of people who invented pipes, provided the electricity and came up with the idea of a shower at all. I think of all of these things as everyday miracles.

Good Feelings and Gratitude

With three bionic joints and the wearing of my bib-overalls, I was recently told that I had the highest metal rating (in their detection system) at the Portland Jetport. I found myself oddly proud of that distinction.

A few hours later, I realized that what the good feeling was about was pure gratitude for modern science, my terrific surgeons, nurses and all the support staff in that process!

Nothing To Do

For the first time in a very long while, I arose today with not one agenda item or entry on the “to-do” list. I realized that at least part of me is completely focused on the “doingness” part of life.

Is there anything more important than being grateful to be alive?
