A few days ago, I tore the tendon in my left elbow that attaches to the muscles in the top site of one’s arm to the muscles on the top of the lower arm. In the nano-second in which the tearing took place it was quite painful.
I heard the pop of a tear, experienced the intense pain and smiled at myself for the stupidity from which it resulted.
None of the words above actually capture the experience, or else, you might be in pain.
What makes us “think” that great pain or intense feelings like “real love” have anything to do with thoughts?
Recently, there has been strenuous physical exercise such that the only parts of my body that didn’t hurt were my three artificial joints.
Can you imagine the miraculous nature of that pain?
My daughter became a licensed veterinarian in June of 2007. She called me upset last weekend as she euthanized nine animals all of whom were unknown to her. The owners said, “We are so glad that you are with us and loved our pet.”
I wonder if she feels comfort knowing that her acts of loving kindness and compassion eased the pain and suffering of both the animal and its family?
