My Dear Brother recently pointed out that age and wisdom are not necessarily congruent.
I wonder what might happen if we allowed students in high school and college to address and seek solutions to real world problems?
It struck me full force, while watching the events in Washington this week, that the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States is about the character of a man, the strength of a family and sense of hope and possibility. I remember with the same sense of awe, the character of the parents of children who attended that first summer program that became Upward Bound. I wondered why these generous, gracious parents would trust anyone who looked like their oppressors?

I wonder which pleases me more, his election or the fact that we may have finally become just a bit wiser?
